Meet Dr. Mendillo

Dr. Sarah Mendillo is a compassionate, enthusiastic, education-driven, hands-on doctor who has committed her lifelong learning to serving the community and the animals that make our lives whole. She grew up in Branford, CT where she developed a love for all creatures and for helping those in need at a young age. She has lived in 5 states (coast to coast) and has traveled the world helping animals in need, from South Africa to Thailand as well as all throughout the US.

In 2007, Dr. Mendillo graduated from Yale University where she completed a bachelor’s degree in chemistry. She then worked in clinical research, nursing, and also as a veterinary technician prior to pursuing her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine, where she found just the right balance of knowledge and hands-on challenges. She is an honorary member of the Phi Zeta Veterinary Medical Honor Society and the Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society, and was awarded the Jack Walther Leadership Award in 2014.

Dr. Mendillo graduated summa cum laude from The Ohio State University in 2015, choosing to utilize her degree in the practice of general medicine in veterinary practices in both Ohio and Connecticut. She has been a part of the Central Hospital family for several years, beginning with surgical rotations while in veterinary school and most recently serving as an ER veterinarian. Since purchasing Montowese Veterinary Clinic in 2019, she looks forward to remaining part of that Central family and integrating as a new part of the local community.

Dr. Mendillo strives to achieve nothing short of excellence in patient and client care on a daily basis. Through valuable and effective communication, surgical knowledge, low-stress handling, continuing education and a diverse background, she seeks to find a balance between active and progressive medicine and prevention, in the hope of providing the keys to improved quality of life for the long-standing, bonded relationships humans have with their pets.

She’s very excited to be embarking on this adventure of practice ownership, and looks forward to meeting you and continuing to forge new friendships and bonding with your furry or not-so-furry family members. With empathy, sympathy, kindness, and compassion, she seeks to uphold and strengthen that bond between pets and their families.
